Hospitals in Bombay may consist of either government hospitals or private medical institutes.
Recently there have been complaints about the government hospitals regarding inadequate facilities and the way they are run.
However private hospitals are turning away HIV positive patients even though they are better equipped to treat the condition so the people suffering from this find the best bet is state clinics and hospitals.
Medication is free of cost while in private hospitals in Bombay the prescriptions are expensive and are often found to be the wrong drugs. A note was sent to India’s Supreme Court asking for approval to provide care for HIV victims and suggested stringent action against doctors or nurses who refuse to treat infected patients.
Over the last year, invertors have gone beyond large corporate hospital chains to supply the growing need of health care across India. There is a rising demand of quality health care throughout India. A study by the Confederation of Indian Industry says they need an additional seven hundred thousand beds to meet the needs of patients in 2012.
There are not enough municipal hospitals in Bombay. The birth rate is almost double the death rate. New hospitals and maternity homes are needed with maternity wards. New employees are needed with specialized training.
According to the Bombay Community Public
Trust, ten million patients are treated yearly in out patient departments in the municipal hospitals. There far over a million people are treated in one hospital alone on a yearly basis.
